After a friend recommended it a few days ago, I decided to watch The Wave tonight. I just finished it and I have to say it was damn good.
A high school teacher’s unusual experiment to demonstrate to his students what life is like under a dictatorship spins horribly out of control when he forms a social unit with a life of its own.
After a little bit of research, it turns out this movie is based on true events from an experiment in a California high school in the late 1960s. If you’re familiar with psychology, this movie and the original experiment itself are very similar to the results of the Standford prison experiment. I’d definitely recommend watching it and if you have Netflix, it’s available to stream.
